Driving Change Through Community Support: The Impact of the JA Hurricane Challenge

At T&T Assets Group, community means more than just a word—it’s a commitment to making a real difference. Recently, our directors had the privilege of joining the JA Hurricane Challenge, a remarkable charity golf event led by Raphael (Raph) Richards. This event brought together passionate players and supporters with one clear goal: to raise funds for rebuilding Stewart Town Primary School, which suffered severe damage during recent storms.

The JA Hurricane Challenge was no ordinary golf event. Over four days, Raph and his team completed an impressive 27 golf courses, demonstrating dedication and endurance. The highlight for us was the flagship event on Friday, 13th March, held at Oakmere Park. Teams from the Midlands and South Yorkshire gathered for a lively Texas Scramble tournament. The day was packed with excellent golf, delicious food, laughter, and a shared sense of purpose.

How the JA Hurricane Challenge Came Together

The event was a true community effort. Club members, local businesses, and friends contributed through raffles, donations, and auctions. Their generosity helped raise an impressive £7,470. This amount will directly support the rebuilding and improvement of Stewart Town Primary School.

The school’s classrooms were originally designed to open onto a courtyard, leaving their zinc roofs vulnerable to high winds and storms. The recent weather events caused significant damage, making reconstruction urgent. Thanks to the funds raised, the school is undergoing important changes to protect its students and staff better.

What the Funds Will Achieve

Every penny raised is being put to work in practical ways:

• Enclosing Classrooms: The classrooms will be enclosed to shield the new zinc roofs from strong winds, reducing future damage.

• Building a Medical Room: A new medical room will be constructed to provide better healthcare facilities for students.

• Refurbishing the Library: The school library will be completely refurbished, creating a welcoming space for learning and growth.

  
  

Although material shortages and construction delays have pushed the expected completion date to December 2026, the progress so far is promising. The community’s support is making a lasting impact on the school’s future.
